Vocations and Formation News

In recent years, several men have persevered and discerned the call to monastic life at Saint Martin's Abbey.

27th August 2014
Br. Luke Devine, OSB
Br. Luke has left for his fourth year of study for his Ph.D. in Christian Spirituality. This summer he worked on two of his comprehensive papers, one on Samuel Bak, a Jewish artist and a second one on Fritz Eichenberg, an artist who worked with Dorothy Day at the Catholic Worker in New York. During the present academic year, instead of returning to the Graduate Theological Union in California he is instead going to live in Illinois at the Chicago Theological Union in order to do research on his doctoral dissertation where the resources are more available.

12h August 2014
Fr. Marion
Fr. Marion Nguyen has been assigned as Administrator at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Anacortes, WA until July 1, 2015 with the concurrence of Abbot Neal G. Roth, O.S.B. in order to assist the Archdiocese of Seattle in an emergency situation. We are happy to help the Archdiocese of Seattle to fill in the gap. Father Marion plans to visit the Saint Martin's community as often as his schedule allows. He renewed his vows the 12th of August 2014.

29th May 2014
Br. Martin
Brother Martin professed simple vows at pontifical Mass on the 11th of July 2014 in the presence of his brother monks, family and friends. Brother Martin's formal monastic formation as a Junior Monk will continue under the direction of Father Gerard, who also serves as Junior Master.
